Qualification of temperature-controlled storage areas
Appropriate storage conditions should be envisaged on the stage of design. Storage areas should be clean, dry and maintain the required temperature. If special storage conditions are required such as temperature, humidity they have to be envisaged, checked and monitored. Critical utilities should be qualified.
During qualification of warehouses, it is necessary to carry out temperature distribution test (mapping) that confirm the necessary storage conditions in critical season periods (the warmest and coldest ones).
The qualification should include the following documentation:
During the operational and performance qualification, one of the most important issues is a justification of the temperature and humidity sensors location. It is extremely important to place the loggers near cold air streams or heat sources (if the storage of products is expected nearby), in the geometric center of a warehouse, near the sensors of BMS.
